Fredrik Fleischer was a member of the WI 15th Infantry, Company A. He was born in Voss, Norway. At the time of his joining the 15th, he lived in Chicago, IL, and was unmarried. He enlisted for three years on October 26, 1861 at Chicago, and mustered on November 15, 1861 at Madison, WI. He was assigned as Corporal (Korporal).
Fleischer was discharged from the service at Stevenson, AL on August 26, 1863 by order of Major General Halleck, so he could return to Norway to claim an inheritance. He hired a substitute, Hubbard Hammock, to take his place. He was entered in Roll of Honor on February 14, 1865. After the war, he returned to his childhood home in Gudvangen, Voss, Norway, and ran a hotel. He died on October 28, 1906 in Norway.
