Ole O. Quale was born in Norway. He joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company K as a Private (Menig). The company called itself “Clausen’s Guards” in honor of the 15th’s first Chaplain, Claus L. Clausen. Most of the company was recruited from Scandinavian communities in MN and IA, with the rest from WI.
The army listed him as living in Geneva Township, Freeborn County, MN. He was married before the war to Sarah O. In 1860, they had 3 children: Jane (1856), Ole (1857), Ever (1859) and were living in Wilmington, Houston, MN.
After the war, Ole lived in Bottineau County, ND.
