Ole Sorenson joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company D. The men of the company called themselves the “Norway Wolf Hunters.” They were also known as the “Waupun Company” because so many of its members were from Waupun, WI
The army listed him as living in Waupun, Fond du Lac County, WI, born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway, age 44, and married. His wife was Mary Sorenson. He enlisted for three years on October 23, 1861 at Waupun, and mustered at Madison, WI, on December 8, 1861 as a Private (Menig). He was missing and believed to have been taken prisoner during a skirmish near Lancaster, TN on August 15, 1862. He died of disease in the U. S. general hospital at Danville, KY on October 24, 1862.
