Anders Tvedt was born in Valdres, Norway. He joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company G. The men of the company called themselves the “Rock River Rangers.”

The army listed him as living in Moscow, Iowa County, WI, age 18, and unmarried. He enlisted for three years on November 9, 1861 at Moscow and mustered at Madison, WI on December 8, 1861 as a Private (Menig). On April 6, 1862, he was sick and sent to General Hospital in Mound City, IL. He is listed on June 3, 1862 as still there. He was then sick in Chattanooga, TN on September 27 and November 28, 1863. He list listed as wounded. On January 13, 1865 and mustered out with Company G at Chattanooga. He died at Anthony, WI a short time after the war.
