Andreas Ullensaker was born February 4, 1845 at Nordre Land, Oppland, Norway, son of Askild Torgersen Ullensager and Gubjør Jacobsdatter Ullensager. He, his parents and three siblings came to America on the Præciosa, which left Skien, Telemark, and reached NY on August 22, 1845. They came to Rock County, WI. He joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company G as a Private (Menig). The men of the company called themselves the “Rock River Rangers.”
