Ole Anderson joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company G. The men of the company called themselves the “Rock River Rangers.”

The army listed Anderson as living in Wyoming, Iowa County, WI, age 51, and a widower. He enlisted for three years on December 4, 1861, at Dodgeville, WI, and mustered at Madison, WI, as a Private (Menig). He became unfit for service and was discharged from the service for disease at Mississippi River Island No. 10 on January 30, 1863.

In May 1882, a veteran named Ole Anderson of Dodgeville was granted a pension of $4 a month due to injury to his abdomen and to disease of his eyes.
