Erick Erickson was born in October 1817 in Norway. He immigrated in 1850. At an unknown date, he married Katherine. She was born in Norway in 1816. They had one child named Erick Andrew Erickson who lived 1858-1896.
He joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company C. The men of the company called themselves the “Norway Bear Hunters,” but they were also known as the Color Company because the regimental Color Guard was attached to their company.
The army listed Erickson as living in Norway Township, Racine County, WI, age 45, and married. He enlisted for three years on October 31, 1861 at Waterford, WI, and mustered on December 2, 1861, at Madison, WI as a Private (Menig). He was left behind at Springfield, KY on October 6, 1862. He was discharged from the service at Louisville, KY on February 7, 1863 for disease.
In 1870, Erick, Katherine, and Erick Jr. were living in Norway, WI. He was working as a farmer. In 1900, he was living in Norway, WI as a widow with his daughter-in-law Bertha and grandchildren Erick and Ida.
