Ole Erickson was born in Norway. He joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company E. The men of the company called themselves “Odin’s Rifles.”

The army listed Erickson as living in Onalaska, La Crosse County, WI, a farmer, and age 30. He had blue eyes, light hair, sandy complexion, and stood 5’8”. He enlisted for three years on February 29, 1864 at La Crosse, WI. He mustered there on March 3, 1864 as a Private (Menig). He joined E Company at Knoxville, TN and was promoted to Corporal (Korporal). He was wounded and missing in battle at New Hope Church, GA on May 27, 1864 and later found to have been killed.
