Torger Erickson was born about 1815 in Norway. He joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company E. The men of the company called themselves “Odin’s Rifles.”

The army listed Erickson as living in Coon Valley, Bad Ax (Vernon) County, WI, age 46, and unmarried. He enlisted for three years on October 23, 1861 at La Crosse, and mustered on December 1, 1861 at Madison, WI as a Private (Menig). He was absent without leave on October 6, 1861. On December 20, 1862, he was detached to the Provost Guard, by the order of General Davis. He was assigned as an escort with the provision transport from Stevenson, AL on October 13, 1863. He was sick in Chattanooga, TN on November 28, 1863; and sick in Knoxville, TN on February 24, 1864. Erickson was sent to the Division Hospital on May 3, 1864. He mustered out with Company E in Chattanooga, TN on December 20, 1864.

After the war, he worked as a farm laborer in Coon, Vernon County (formerly Bad Ax County), WI. He filed a pension on September 29, 1887. He died before 1907.
