Stephen Evenson was born in Norway. In 1860, he was working as a farm laborer and living in Waterford, Racine County, WI. He joined the WI 15th Infantry. He was not assigned to a company. The army listed him as living in Racine, WI, farmer, and age 23. He had blue eyes, blond hair, fair complexion, and stood 5’6½”. He enlisted for three years on August 30, 1862 at Racine. He had a bounty of $100 and served as a Private (Menig). He was reported to have died in Louisville, KY.
