Lars Jenson joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company D. The men of the company called themselves the “Norway Wolf Hunters.” They were also known as the “Waupun Company” because so many of its members were from that WI county. The army listed him as living in Oconomowoc, Waukesha County, WI, age 27, and unmarried. He enlisted for three years on October 30, 1861 at Oconomowoc, and mustered at Madison, WI on December 10, 1861 as a Private (Menig). He was assigned to the provision transport from Stevenson, AL on October 13 1863. He was sick in Chattanooga, TN, following November 28, 1863. Jenson was assigned to 68th Indiana on February 1, 1864. He returned to the WI 15th on April 2, 1864. He mustered out with Company D on February 13, 1865 at Chattanooga. He was entered on the Roll of Honor of the 2nd Brigade, 1st Division, 20th Army Corps.
