Lars Jorgenson born on January 20, 1843 at Torrisdal, Drangedal, Norway, the son of Jorgen Abrahamson Farsjo and Asberg Ellingsdatter Naas. His father died in 1846 and his mother married Jorgen Olsen Wrolstad, who adopted Lars and gave him the Wrolstad name. Lars immigrated to the U.S. in 1860.
Jorgenson joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company I. The men of the company called themselves the “Scandinavian Mountaineers” but were also known as the “Waupaca Company” because so many of them were living in that WI county when they enlisted. The army listed him Scandinavia, WI, age 19, and unmarried. He enlisted for three years on November 4, 1861 at Scandinavia and mustered at Madison, WI on December 20, 1861 as a Private (Menig). He became unfit for service and was discharged for disease from Mississippi River Island No. 10 on May 21, 1862.
After the war, he married Mary Nyflodt in WI. Together, they had at least three children: George (1866), Ida (1868), and John (1878). They lived in Iowa, Waupaca, WI. Mary died in 1888 and Lars in 1912. They are buried along with George in Scandinavia Cemetery, Scandinavia, Waupaca County, WI.
