Erich Larsen Framstad was born in Gran parish, Oppland, Norway and emigrated from there with his family when he was 18 years old. Erik, his parents and two brothers, arrived in NY in 1849 on the Benedicte.

Erik Larson joined the WI 15th Infantry, Company G. The men of the company called themselves the “Rock River Rangers.” The army listed him as living in Dodgeville, Iowa County, WI, age 30, and unmarried. He, with his brother Hans, enlisted for three years on December 4, 1861, at Dodgeville, and mustered at Madison, WI, as a Private (Menig). Larson was on home leave at Dodgeville from May 11 to June 1, 1862. He was killed, shot through the head, at New Hope Church, GA, on May 27, 1864.
